Hi Graham,

Unfortunately, there are no easy answers to all this, and of course individual results may vary in any case, but I'll try to provide some things to consider. As I've heard it, there are different parts of withdrawal. The first part is just waiting for all the drug to leave one's system: while it all leaves one's blood relatively quickly, it may be months before it all leaves one's brain. Then there is the part where one's brain, and one's mind, have to adjust to functioning without the drug. The brain does various structural adjustments to the presence of the drug, which may take months or years to change back. And therapy while taking drugs may just help one make peace with one's mind on drugs - one's mind off drugs may require a whole new level of adjustment. Though many of the principles learned in the therapy done while on drugs still apply.

I don't know if you read the guide I wrote for therapists in helping people get off medications, and the links contained in it, but you can check them out at http://recoveryfromschizophrenia.org/therapists-guide-to-reducing-medications/

hi ive been on solian for 4/5years i had taken 400mg every day and i have been reduced in the last 18 months to nothing. i had a drug indused phycosis i do studies every week and function quite well, i was taken of the medication 2months ago 8/9weeks and i am wondering how long the withdrawl lasts? as i am not comfortable. my early warning signs lack of sleep loss of apitite halusanations, and paranoia. none of these r happening as the last time i was sick was 2003.
i have at the moment a acidic stumic and my mouth is matalic.im sleeping well and when i wake up im fine. i am quite busy during the day then 1or 2oclock in the afternoon i feel like everything is an effort, my emotions go wild and thats when i no i need rest. i am quite an anxios person but over the last 3/4years i have had a lot of theropy and i feel that im at ease with myself. so i would like to ask has the medication damaged my system ? how long are withdrals?
and what should i eat? and how much water should i drink? and what sort of chance have i got of getting through this?
